Procol Harum

Procol Harum est un groupe britannique formé en 1967, il connait un succès fracassant avec le titre A Whiter Shade of Pale, classé n° 1 au Royaume-Uni et n° 5 aux États-Unis. La pochette du disque leur donne de faux airs de Beatles, marketing oblige.

A Whiter Shade of Pale a été repris par Annie Lennox en 1995, dans son album Medusa.

Classé dans la catégorie rock progressif, Procol Harum est porté par le chanteur Gary Broker, son fondateur, et le parolier Keith Reid. Handicapé par de fréquents changements de musiciens, le groupe est dissous en 1977 puis opère son retour en 1991.

Il sera révélé au public international 3 ans plus tard avec le morceau Uptight (Everything's Alright). Surfant entre les vagues soul, funk, rock et pop, Stevie Wonder a composé une quantité impressionnante de tubes, dont You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, I Just Called To Say I Love You ou Free. Un musicien qui a marqué le XXème siècle de son génie

composée pour le film La Fille en rouge (The Woman in Red), Stevie Wonder remporte l'Oscar de la meilleure chanson originale ; il obtient également son premier numéro un au Royaume-Uni en tant qu'artiste solo, le titre se classant en tête des charts durant six semaines d'affilée en 1984. Il figure parmi les vingt meilleures ventes de l'histoire au Royaume-Uni.
